Hairdressers Pilates by Clara Leonard

Hairdresser Pilates by Clara Leonard

Date: May 22, 10:30 - 1:30pm
Price: $25 (inquire about scholarship)

Pilates designed for hairdressers and all the movements we do while at work. Moving our bodies intentionally and strengthening the muscles we use daily to prevent injury and stress. This movement series is designed to allow us to nurture the bodies that allow us to do the work we love smoothly and safely.

What should students bring:
A yoga mat and comfortable clothes to move in.

About Clara:
Clara has been a hairdresser for 15 years. She’s worked behind the chair for over 10 years, as well as on set, with celebrity clients, and on fashion shows around the world.

Clara’s been practicing Pilates for 10 years and has studied many ways of moving the body from yoga, to barre, to dance. Clara received her training from east river Pilates for both anatomy, mat, and reformer.

More about (Salon)CARE Week:

Care Week was created as an experimental form of mutual community caregiving within our extended Salon community.

We're teaming up with holistic healers, pilates instructors, physical therapists, coaches, and others to offer resources and access to practices that can help support and sustain hairdressers body needs from the inside out and at every stage of their career.

PRICING:
Each practitioner is offering their services on a sliding scale or has set aside a few spots that will be free and prioritized for hairstylists whose own hair services are at a lower price point than the Care service cost. We aimed to price these services around the same price as an average NYC haircut or color, thus making the cost a direct service trade monetarily.

By booking a service at full price, you help fund a service for hairstylists who will benefit from our accessible pricing model. Our scholarship and sliding scale spots prioritize BIPOC hairstylists in our neighborhood of Los Sures. If this describes you, then you are highly encouraged to book an appointment and inquire about pricing accessibility. We thank you for practicing and experimenting with community caretaking with us at Salon for this first ever Care Week.
